12 Ways We Prepare Sports Fields

Soil Samples

We take samples to be able to determine the needs of a particular field and customize a program based on the results.

Amend Soil

Soil amendment aids in correcting the makeup of existing soil.

Scout for Weeds

Visually assess weeds present and create a plan to best remove the weeds.

Field Maintenance

We handle all aspects of general field maintenance except field painting.

Lime Application

Lime helps adjust soil pH so that the plant can better use available nutrients.

Pre-Emergent

Provide a herbicide barrier in the soils to keep most weed seeds from germinating.

Core Aerification

Removing cores out of fields helps reduce soil compaction, allows a site for air exchange, and preps a site for water to move through the soil profile.

Top Dressing

This levels a field back to original grade as well as gives the turf an easier medium to grow on.

High-Nitrogen Fertilizer

This is a fertilizer high in nitrogen to "push" the turf to grow at a higher rate.

Aera-Vator

A hole is punched into the field with a solid tine and vibrated to loosen soil. This process reduces compaction but play can resume immediately.

Wetting Agents

Make better use of the available water on turf or soil either from rain or irrigation.

Burn Pattern

Burn in is a process to stripe a field with light and dark sections that is visually appealing

Did You Know?

  • How much do you charge per application for my yard?

This question is hard to answer without seeing the yard and knowing the homeowners degree of satisfaction (ie: only weed-free or the highest quality of managed turf grass). Call us at (864)546-8567 if you’d like us to visit your property and discuss.

  • Will the chemicals harm my children or pets?

After each application, we leave a notification for the homeowner with water and lawn re-entry instructions. If instructions are followed, a harmful reaction to the chemicals is highly unlikely. We make every effort to use the safest chemicals possible. Most household cleaners and/or chemicals found in garages are more toxic and harmful than the chemicals we use.

  • How long will it take for the chemical to work?

This is another difficult question to answer. This depends on the temperature, irrigation/rain efficiency, soil profile, type of weeds, possible fungi and/or species of insects (above or underground). After the needs of the lawn are assessed, a more accurate timeline can be established.

  • How many applications are used per year?

We customize our shrub and/or turf programs to fit the needs of each individual property by assessing the starting condition of the property, the plant species present and most importantly the desires of the homeowner.
